What Have You Been Asked About Single Mums Rights
It has become obvious that in America, the single circumstance that will undermine your career is not a handicap, drug addiction, or disability, but believe it or not, being a single mother. Single mothers could end up in this category through divorce, death, or by choice, although these are not the essential reasons why a lone mother cannot improve her career status. The main reason for this is because of an inherent bias and prejudice in American business that takes away single mums rights, and discriminates brazenly against them.
Many single mums have been too exhausted and over worked to take note this trend, but now this is starting to be a big ingredient in the battle for single mums rights. Our present day society demands that in order to be successful we have got to play the corporate game, get better jobs, work hard to earn more money so that we can send our kids to college. However, this only works if you are married.
Should you be a single mother, the interpretation is that you are a business risk, and in many states, it is fair to ask for the marital status of a job applicant, and find out if there are any minors. Employers claim this permits them to refuse to hire single moms, and therefore dodge paying health care costs for their children. Or, if they do happen to employ them, to purposely pay them less to account for perceived health care expenses. So, because it is legal, this is not seen as discrimination. That this form of discrimination is allowed to be practiced in the United States has many single mums outraged.
Single mothers have been requested to get off welfare and rejoin the workforce, but recruiting centers are decidedly campaigning against them. Plenty of single mums work more than ten hours a day to support their young ones, with minimal help from the state or deadbeat dads. Yet, they are hired at lower wages than other women, provided that they are employed in the first place. They have hardly any support and must hire someone to look after the youngsters during their shift at work. If they have an accident, their position can be acute, both in terms of income and childcare.
The government census return showed that over 10 million single mothers reside in the US. Lots of these single mums are getting together in local organizations to support the fight for single mums rights. Child care centers, counseling and financial advice are a couple of the advantages there are to being a group member. Some single moms are petitioning their public officials to revoke laws that make it acceptable to question a woman about her personal relationships. Right throughout America, there are locally based support groups of single mothers that are fighting for single mums rights, so that all single mothers like themselves, will find justice in the workplace.
