The Most Recent In Carbide Endmill Architectures In A Long And Outstanding Line From Iscar

Manufacturers and die & mold shops can eliminate chatter problems in countless milling operations with Iscar's revolutionary Chatterfree carbide endmill. The cutters' variable-pitch flute pattern banishes harmonic vibration, the principal source of chatter. This facilitates faster cutting and finer finish in rough or finish slotting, shoulder milling and cavity milling. In addition, users also report prolonged edge life due to reduced chatter. The chatter-free ability is offered in both solid carbide endmills and tips in Iscar's MULTI-MASTER replaceable-tip line. Diameter range is 6 to 20mm for the solid carbide endmills, and 8 to 20mm for MULTI-MASTER tips. These new endmills are excellent for low power machines with ISO40 or BT40 adaptations. The solid carbide variant can cope with full slot machining up to 2xD. Depth capability on the replaceable-tip construction is more restricted since the active length is shorter. In full slotting functions on alloy steel, the solid carbide version successfully handles 0.03-0.05 feed rates at 180-220mm/min surface speed and 2xD depth of cut.

FINISHRED - Revolutionary Solid Carbide Endmills

Iscar is announcing the EFR.. B44 and the MM EFS.. Finishred a innovative solid carbide endmill family. The Finishred carbide endmill is a union of both roughing and finishing endmills in a single tool. Roughing endmills remove material from work pieces more swiftly and efficiently than ordinary endmills. Yet, roughing endmills leave grooves on the machined surface. Accordingly, after using a roughing endmill, a finishing endmill has to be used in order to obtain a smooth surface finish. This means time-consuming tool change, setup time and inevitably of maintaining two endmill types in the inventory.

Features of the Finishred Endmills:

The EFR.. B44 and the MM EFS.. endmills feature 4 flutes with 45 degree helix, two serrated flutes and 2 continuous flutes.

The cutting edges of the finishing flutes are radially further from the tool axis than the cutting edges of the serrated flutes. The finishing flutes remove the grooves caused by the roughing flutes, leaving a smooth surface finish.

The tool is fully effective and enables running at rough machining parameters, ending in finish surface quality.

The extraordinary tool design lessens vibration at high load applications.

The tool generates short and long chips concurrently. This chip mixture is evacuated more successfully than each individual chip type, an extraordinary solution in slotting and cavity milling applications.

The Finishred is also offered with the Multi-Master indexable milling head option which couples the Finishred includes with the advantage of little setup time, no regrinding costs and the extended range of shank and extension choices are available for the Multi-Master milling heads.

A single tool substitutes the roughing and finishing endmills; therefore decreasing stock.

Tool change and setup time can be disregarded.

An extra tool position is gained on the machine

New Chip Splitting Solid Carbide Endmills for High Metal Removal Rates

ISCAR is introducing the ECP-3/4L family of chip splitting endmills. The completely new endmills are offered with 3 and four 38 degree flutes in grade IC900. They feature 2xD and long shanks with scaled down neck diameter, which allow machining along high shoulders, at high feeds. These endmills, due to their chip splitting element and force distribution can be used very proficiently on low power machines (CAT40/BT40/ISO40). The serrated cutting edge includes flat peaks which leave a better surface finish, in contrast to the current rougher carbide endmill. The ECP endmills are recommended for machining austenitic and martensitic stainless steel, at up to 2xD depth of cut. They can be used on alloyed steel as well. All of the preliminary tests conducted at various customers' locations showed outstanding results.
