Iscar currently offers a family of high-performance slitting tools that merge the convenience and security of Tang-Grip clamping with the added durability of the completely new Sumo Tec insert grades.

The perception, already proven effective in Tang-Grip parting tools, has now been spread to slitting cutters. In the patented Tang-Grip clamping system, inserts are press-fit into their pockets with a specialized hand tool, and are clutched securely in place without the need without requiring clamps, upper jaws or set screws that can weaken the insert and disrupt chip flow. The pocket design utilizes cutting forces to retain the insert seated firmly in position, removing any prospect of insert pull-out. The Tang-Grip clamping system also fosters more accurate slitting cuts plus longer pocket and insert lifespan.

Iscar's Sumo Tec insert grades showcase a special post-coating treatment which greatly increases tool life and reliability.

Launched in late 2007, the new Sumo Tec treatment smooths the insert's coated surface to dispose of microscopic stress raisers, lessen heat and friction and improve chip flow. The result is enhanced toughness and opposition to chipping and built-up edge, all leading to longer tool life. The golden-colored side on Sumo Tec inserts facilitates wear detection. Size for size, Tangslit cutters offer more teeth than Iscar's SGSF cutters, permitting higher feed rates.

IC830, supplying additional toughness for heavier parting and grooving including interrupted cuts. It is suitable for all stainless steel & high temperature alloys.

IC908, a hard, fine-grain substrate with extraordinary chipping resistance, combined with a completely new Sumo Tec TiAlN PVD coating. It is perfect for nodular or gray cast iron.

IC928 and 928A, PVD TiAlN-coated tough grades fitting for stainless steel, high temperature alloys and other alloy steels. These grades are likewise recommended for interrupted cuts and heavy operations.

All Tangslit and Tang-Grip inserts are attainable in J- or C-type chipformer geometries from Iscar.
