An Alcohol Addicted Person Goes To Alcohol Rehabilitation And Receives Alcohol Detoxification And Rehab For His Alcohol Dependency

Donald used to boast to his drinking friends how he could maintain a difficult and full-time job and get drunk as a skunk virtually every night. Regrettably, after continuing this unhealthy lifestyle for roughly five-and-a-half years, he began to have several alcohol related issues.

For instance, he had a hard time getting up for work because he felt so worn-out when he got up. Moreover, just about every morning Donald had a horrible hangover. It was apparent that the mixture of his lack of energy and his hangovers did not make it easy for him to get up and feel inspired to go to work. To add fuel to the fire, nearly a week ago he got his third drunk driving citation in the past thirteen weeks.

To further compound things, at his job his last two performance appraisals were less than adequate. And finally, his three-and-a-half-year relationship with his girlfriend had worsened due to his angry outbursts, depression, lack of patience, and his financial difficulties.

Even though Donald was only twenty seven years old, he honestly began looking like he was in his early forties. Sadly, this is what careless drinking can do to an individual. And from a realistic perspective he grasped the fact that he was going through the negative outcomes of alcohol abuse or alcohol dependency and that he was too young to throw away his life to abusive and careless drinking. So initially he tried to drink in moderation. Unfortunately, he soon comprehended the fact that he lost all control after having his first drink. Since this was an event that was repeated every single time he drank, this distressed him greatly. In actual fact, he began to wonder if he was exhibiting some of the stages of alcoholism.

After mentioning his alcohol drinking problems and his abusive and irresponsible drinking with his lady friend, he eventually made up his mind to schedule an appointment to see his family doctor. When Donald saw his healthcare professional, he frankly confirmed that he has been drinking in a hazardous manner, that he may be manifesting behavior that is representative of the various alcoholism stages, and that he wants to stop drinking. He then confirmed that drinking responsibly and in moderation does not work for him and as a consequence, he wants to learn how he can develop an alcohol-free lifestyle.

Donald also told his physician about his depression and how this mental health problem was negatively affecting his relationship with his lady friend. His healthcare practitioner referred Donald to Doctor Brand, an alcohol and drug addiction psychiatrist, who inspired Donald to enter into an alcohol and drug rehab center as an in-patient for alcohol detoxification and alcohol rehabilitation. The good news is that Donald would also be able to get medical treatment for his depression at this treatment center.

After three months of rigorous rehab, Donald left the in-patient rehabilitation facility and continued his recovery via going to local Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and via outpatient therapy. Inspired to change his life in a healthier manner, Donald joined a fitness center and began working out three or four times per week. Within four months Donald was a new person. He was in shape, he was eating nutritious meals, he was not depressed anymore, and most important of all, he remained sober for numerous months. He also did not resort to angry outbursts, he became more patient, and he became a more compassionate person in his relationship with his girlfriend. In brief, abstaining from drinking was the best decision Donald had ever made.
