A Television Documentary About Alcoholism Signs Leads To Discouraging Feelings About A Woman's Drinking Problems

Sharon had been involved in fairly heavy drinking behavior since her sophomore year in college. Now, seven years later, she drank more than ever. One Sunday evening when she wasn't feeling all that well, Sharon decided to stay home, chill out, and watch television. While looking for a special program to watch that would be of interest, she instantly became attracted to a special program about teenage and young adult drinking problems.

The commenter went over the difference between alcohol dependency and alcohol abuse and then discussed the subject of alcoholic symptoms and alcoholic behavior. When the speaker discussed an individual's symptoms of withdrawal and some of the more common alcoholism symptoms and signs that people dependent on alcohol display, Sharon got quite alarmed because it almost seemed as if the speaker was talking specifically to her.

After watching the television program, Sharon promised herself that she would call her health care professional the next business day and schedule an appointment to discuss her excessive and hazardous drinking.

When the next workday arrived, true to her word, Sharon called her physician and scheduled an appointment. In the meantime, she went online and did a search for alcoholism symptoms. Especially noteworthy were the following symptoms or signs: sneaking extra drinks before social events, sleep problems, serious employment and relationship problems, making excuses to drink at almost every opportunity, and increasing irritability.

Stated simply, due to the fact that Sharon displayed all of these signs she went deeper in her Internet search and found a number of websites and blogs that articulated diverse alcohol dependency symptoms and warning signs. One of the signs that really grabbed her awareness was the following: "Do you typically drink after telling yourself that you won't?"

Another alcoholism sign that took hold of her interest was the following: "Have coworkers upset you by taking a dim view of your hazardous and abusive drinking?" A third alcohol dependency warning sign was the following: "Do you want a drink when you first get up in the morning?"

The final alcohol addiction warning symptom that made her feel relatively uneasy about her irresponsible and hazardous drinking was the following: "Has your energy shrunk since you started drinking more frequently?" When Sharon read this sign she plainly recognized that drinking had become a significant difficulty in her life because of her diminished energy level and also because she stopped pursuing her passions and her goals.

After thinking about all of these hurtful alcoholism signs and symptoms, Sharon at first felt miserable. Then something surprising transpired. She realized that she was going to see her physician about her irresponsible and hazardous drinking and she also knew that she would talk about her alcoholism warning signs and symptoms.

In fact, for the first time in numerous months, Sharon truthfully felt a sense of hopefulness because she was confronting her irresponsible and hazardous drinking and was after all has been said and done ready to make the necessary changes so that she could reclaim the life that was slipping away.
